Kanan Devan or Kannan Devan

Until recently (till my friend pointed it out) I was thinking it was "Kannan Devan Tea" named after some guy called Kannan to whom the tea estate belonged to. Never bothered to read the package properly. Now I realize it's actually "Kanan" meaning Forest named after the Kanan Devan Hills. Here is the Tata story about it. Its not just me, even google thinks Kannan is the correct word, based on number of searches it recieves for the word. :)

Grocery shopping 2.0

Well! Even a boring activity like grocery shopping should have a version 2.0. Amazing to see people what people can do with mundane things these days.

FMCG on the Web

Suddenly we see a number of FMCG products going live on the web. Many TVCs are now pushing consumers to their websites which are nothing but a half hearted attempt to put up something over the web. Its just an electronic brochure ware (copy the printed pamphlet and call it website) Some are even more complicated fizz-bang attempts made in flash with "Skip Intros" in the age of web 2.0. I wonder when the agencies will wake up to the creative possibilities of web 2.0

On a related note, a recent news article says FMCG advertising spend this year has already crossed a whopping 2400 crore. Recession!, what recession? No wonder, cost of grocery products have gone up significantly over the last one year. :)
